Men discerning a vocation to the Order of Preachers (the Dominicans) are invited to a half-day with the Vocations Director and novices. Meet mid-afternoon at St. Gertrude Priory for a tour of church/priory, vespers, a meal, a talk on Dominican life, and a chance to meet novices and hear their vocation stories. Talk on resurrection at St. Gertrude
Dominican Father Clement Dickie will present the first of two talks on “The Resurrection of the Body/The Goodness of the Flesh.” He will explain the Christian doctrine that the dead will rise again in bodily form. “Even faithful Christians sometimes get the impression that death provides an escape from bodily existence. Dominican Father Thomas More Garrett and a variety of specialists in different fields will discuss topics including funeral planning, advance care directives, senior care, and asset management for people entering their twilight years, or who want to plan ahead, or who have aging parents they are concerned about. The presentation will help shed light on the Church's guidance as well as giving practical advice.

Feast of St. Dominic Mass with Dominican Novices (Madeira)
Join the 17 new Dominican novices (one, Eric, is from Dayton) at Mass following a private ceremony in which they receive the Dominican habit. Each year on the Feast of St. Dominic, a new class of novices for the Province of St. Joseph (Eastern United States) arrives to spend a year at St. Gertrude, living the life of a Dominican friar as they discern their call to be Dominican priests or brothers. Men 18-34 are invited to meet the friars and novices of St. Gertrude Priory, housed at the Madeira parish, and meet the Province's new vocation director. This is the main Ohio vocation event of the summer. It begins at 3 p.m, with rosary and vespers at 5 followed by recreation with the friars, dinner and a talk on Dominican life at 6, and praying Compline at 9:15 in the priory chapel. Fully Engaged Training in Madeira
Chris Codden, author of the Fully Engaged catechetical pre-marriage inventory (used in place of FOCCUS) will conduct training for priests, deacons, parish ministers, and mentor couples. Training will be offered Monday, September 17 at Holy Angels in Dayton; Tuesday, September 18 at St. Gertrude in Madeira; and Wednesday, September 19 at St. Ann in Groesbeck.
