A Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Rains, a veteran social studies teacher at Badin High School, was celebrated April 18 at St. Peter in Chains Parish in Hamilton.

Rains, 62, died April 13. Badin High School was closed on April 18 to honor the late teacher’s memory.

A Hamilton native, Rains was a 1968 graduate of Badin High School. He went on to graduate from Ohio University. He joined the Badin faculty in 1983, serving as chairperson of the Social Studies department and coaching basketball.

Rains is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter Suzanne and son, Joseph, sisters, Donna Honerlaw and Mary Ivancic, and brothers, Ben and Dave.
