Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur present award

ST. ANDREW DEANERY — The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur recently presented the congregation’s prestigious Educating for Life Award to Ruth and Bob Conway.
The award was established six years ago to mark the Sisters’ second century as a teaching community and to acknowledge exceptionally dedicated women and men who share the congregation’s commitment to education and love of poor people. The 2009 award was presented to the Conways in recognition of their support of quality Catholic education for Cincinnati area students.
The award’s name is taken from the words of the congregation’s foundress St. Julie Billiart who said, “Teach the children what they need to know for life.”
Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Marilyn Kerber, a member of the Ohio leadership team, cited the generous support the Conways provide to the local community through their Ruth J. and Robert A. Conway Foundation.
“Ruth and Bob share a deep appreciation of their own Catholic education,” Sister Marilyn said. “They worked tirelessly so their children would have the same strong foundation of faith. Today, their organization carries that commitment even further by funding programs that help to incorporate strong Catholic values into the everyday learning environment, and Cincinnati is a better community because of them.”
