Sister Ruth Ann Bange
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Ruth Ann Bange was celebrated Feb. 12 in the St. Julie Chapel at Mount Notre Dame Convent in Reading. Sister Ruth Ann, 88, died Feb. 8. A native of Hamilton, she was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 70 years.
Sister Ruth Ann spent 10 years ministering at grade schools in Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus. She spent the next 36 years teaching high school science. Sister Ruth was actively involved in the merger of Chaminade and Julienne high schools in Dayton and went on to serve as director of academics and head of the science department. She later established the school’s community service program. After serving in parish religious education in Arizona, she returned to Cincinnati in 2009.
Sister Ruth Ann is survived by her brothers, Joseph and Donald. Interment was in the convent cemetery.
