Sister Rosita Purler

A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Rosita Purler was celebrated June 4 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Rosita, 93, died June 2 at St. Clare Hall, the healthcare facility for the Sisters of St. Francis.
A native of Missouri, Sister Rosita entered the Oldenburg Franciscan community in 1931 and professed her final vows in 1938. Her ministry as a teacher, principal and superior spanned 56 years. Ten of those years, 1964-74, were spent at Our Lady of Victory School in Cincinnati.
In 1974 Sister Rosita was elected assistant reverend mother of the Oldenburg community. After serving two terms, she returned to educational ministry in Indiana and Missouri. She retired to the motherhouse in 2004.
Interment was in the community’s cemetery.
