Sister Rosemary Winkeljohann

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ursuline Sister Rosemary Winkeljohann will be celebrated on Sept. 11 at St. Ursula Convent chapel in East Walnut Hills. Sister Rosemary, 79, died on Sept. 3 at Mercy St. Theresa Center in Mariemont.
A Cincinnati native, Sister Rosemary entered the Ursuline community at the age of 17, after having been taught by the Sisters in grade school and high school. Sister Rosemary spent her entire professional ministry, more than 50 years, in some aspect of education. She was involved in the founding of All Saints School in Kenwood and served as principal at St. Ursula Villa and St. Michael School in Ripley.
In addition, Sister Rosemary served on the faculty locally at Xavier University. She also served as reading curriculum coordinator for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
During her years in ministry, Sister Rosemary was active in many professional organizations, including the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE), the International Reading Association and the Education Research Information Center.
Sister Rosemary is survived by a sister, Alberta Diekmann Seibel, and a brother, Frank Diekmann. Interment was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery.
