Sister Monica Marie Ehnie

Sister of Charity Monica Marie Ehnie died April 16 in Mother Margaret Hall at the order’s motherhouse at Mount St. Joseph. She was 78.
She entered religious life in 1948 and was a Sister of Charity for 60 years. In addition to serving the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, she served in Pueblo, Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo.; Washington, D.C.; and Detroit and Lansing, Mich., in the field of education.
A native of Denver, Sister Monica Marie earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1961 and a master’s in education from the University of Detroit in 1966.
In Cincinnati she taught at St. William School from 1955-1957. Following a teaching and retreat career, she returned to the Sisters of Charity motherhouse in 1999, where she joined the ministry of prayer.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 21 at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the motherhouse. Interment followed in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
