Sister Mary Rosaire Stadtmiller

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Mary Rosaire Stadtmiller was celebrated Nov. 15 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister Mary Rosaire, 94, died Nov. 7 at Mother Margaret Hall.
A Cincinnati native, Sister Mary Rosaire graduated from Seton High School in 1934, and would later teach at her alma mater from 1962-64. She was a Sister of Charity for 75 years, serving in primary and secondary education, as well as administration. Sister Mary Rosaire earned bachelor’s degrees in education from the Athenaeum of Ohio and the College of Mount St. Joseph and a master’s degree in business education from the University of Detroit.
She began her teaching career at the former St. Anthony School in Madisonville in 1937. In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Sister Mary Rosaire also served at the former St. Patrick School in Cincinnati; the former St. Joseph Commercial High School in Dayton; the former Immaculata School in Cincinnati; Catholic Central High School in Springfield; and Holy Angels School in Sidney.
After assuming administrative duties at hospitals in New Mexico and Colorado, Sister Mary Rosaire returned to the Cincinnati area in 1977 to teach at the then-St. Joseph Maternity Home, and later become a secondary principal. She retired to the motherhouse in 1985 to serve as a secretary to the administrator of Mother Margaret Hall and volunteer in the archives.
Sister Mary Rosaire is survived by her sisters, Teresa Stadtmiller, Erma Dwyer and Kay Knueven. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
