Sister Mary Rachel Schulte

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of St. Francis Mary Rachel Schulte was celebrated June 19 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis in Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Mary, who was 91, died June 16 at St. Clare Hall at the Oldenburg motherhouse.
A native of Cincinnati, Sister Mary entered the Oldenburg Franciscan community in 1937 and professed her final vows in 1943.
She was a teacher at St. Leo School in Cincinnati and spent 46 years at Marian College in Indianapolis, Ind., where she was a registrar and an assistant to the dean’s office. Sister Mary retired to the Oldenburg motherhouse in 1993, where she served in the archive office for 11 years.
She is survived by her brother, Joe Schulte of Okeana, and her sister, Mary Dolores Schulte, of Cincinnati.
