A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Mary Frances Kleman, 86, was celebrated Sept. 10 at Salem Heights in Dayton. Sister Mary Frances died Sept. 6 at the Maria Joseph Center in Dayton. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 69 years.
A native of Glandorf, she entered the Sisters of Precious Blood in 1940 and received the name Sister Mary Caritas. She taught at St. Mary School in Dayton and St. Mark School in Cincinnati, at Immaculate Conception in Celina, Fatima Hall and Carroll in Dayton and St. Joseph in Wapakoneta. She also taught in Indiana and Missouri.
She was treasurer and regional director for the Northern Region of the Sisters of the Precious Blood. She served as administrator of the Maria Stein Convent and was engages in ministry in housing for the elderly and low-income families.
Sister Mary Frances retired to Salem Heights in 1998 where she did volunteer work. Declining health necessitated her move to Emma Hall at the Maria Joseph Center this year.
She is survived by her sisters, Eleanor Kleman of Maryland and Alice Ciotta of North Olmstead, and two brothers, Harry Kleman of Ottawa and Arthur Kleman of Delphos.
Burial was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
