Sister Mary Claver Ehren

A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Mary Claver Ehren was celebrated Oct. 19 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis of Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Mary Claver, 83, died Oct. 15 at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
A native of Missouri, Sister Mary Claver entered the Oldenburg Franciscan community in 1944 and professed her final vows in 1950. She served as an elementary school teacher and, in her later years, in retreat, pastoral and hospital ministry.
In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati She served at St. Clement School in St. Bernard and the House of Prayer. In 1960 she was one of four Sisters to establish the congregation’s ministry in Papua New Guinea. She retired to the Oldenburg motherhouse in 1991.
Sister Mary Claver is survived by seven sisters, Margie Clarke, Mildred Brewer, Cecilia Browning, Evelyn Mar, Frances Wilkerson, Joann Glaser and Loretta Jakubiec, and two brothers, Donald Ehren and Michael Clarke. Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
