Sister Mary Anne Westerheide
A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Mary Anne Westerheide was held at Salem Heights Chapel in Dayton on March 19. Sister Mary Anne died on March 15. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 72 years.
A native of St. Patrick, Ohio, Sister followed her older sibling, Sister Leonita Westerheide, into religious life and entered the congregation in 1941. Sister Mary Anne served in the United States for 30 years at schools in St. Joseph, Mo.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and in Miamisburg, Norwood, Columbus Grove, Celina and Hamilton, Ohio. She also spent 25 plus years of ministry in Chile, where she taught primary grades and later English to adults as a profesora. In addition, she did pastoral work and cared for the sick and elderly. She retired in 2011.
Sister Mary Anne is survived by her sisters, Mary Agnes Puchalski and Mary Loy. Interment was in the Salem Heights Cemetery.
