Sister Louise Stuhlmueller

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Louise Stuhlmueller was celebrated on Jan. 16 at the Mount Notre Dame Convent Chapel. Sister Louise, 95, died Jan. 11 at Mount Notre Dame Health Center. She was a Sister of Notre Dame for 77 years.
A native of Hamilton, Sister Louise was a lifelong educator and musician. She earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music from the University of Cincinnati, and completed a number of post-graduate courses in Gregorian chant and music literature at Manhattanville College in New York.
She taught violin, piano and chorus for 55 years beginning at St. Alexander School in Villa Park, Ill. She continued until shortly before her death with private piano lessons for adults at the health center. In the interim years, she taught at many Notre Dame schools including Mount Notre Dame in Cincinnati, the former Notre Dame High School in Hamilton and in Illinois. She also served as chairperson of the music department at Bishop Hartley High School in Columbus.
Sister Louise is survived by her sister, Vera McCune, of North Brook, Ill. Interment was in the convent cemetery.
