Sister Lawrence White
A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Lawrence White was celebrated Jan. 11 at the motherhouse chapel. Sister Lawrence, 99, died Jan. 7 at Mother Margaret Hall. She would have turned 100 years old on Jan. 11, and at the time of her death, was the oldest living member of her congregation. She was a Sister of Charity of Cincinnati for 81 years.
A native of Norwood, Sister Lawrence, earned a bachelor’s degree in social studies from the College of Mount St. Joseph. Sister Lawrence taught in schools in Cincinnati and Dayton in Ohio, Mt. Clemens in Michigan and Pueblo in Colorado. In 1976, leaving the classroom behind, she went into pastoral ministry at St. Mary Parish in Hyde Park, serving the faith community for 20 years.
Sister Lawrence is survived by her sister, Rosemary Barth. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
