Sister Jean Marie Cazenavette

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of St. Joseph Jean Marie Cazenavette was celebrated on April 9 at Mount St. Mary Convent in Wichita, Kan. Sister Jean Marie, 98, died at Mount St. Mary on April 1.
Sister Jean Marie entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in New Orleans in 1930 and professed her final vows in 1935. Her educational ministry spanned 37 years at the elementary, high school and junior college levels. In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati Sister Jean Marie taught at St. Joseph Academy, a boarding school for girls that became McNicholas High School. Sister Jean Marie also taught in New Orleans and went on to serve as her community’s provincial treasurer and mistress of postulants. After retiring she continued to teach French in New Orleans for 21 years on a volunteer basis to senior citizens.
Sister Jean Marie is survived by a sister, Mildred Peiffer of West Palm Beach, Fla. Interment was in the Sisters of Joseph cemetery in Wichita.
