Sister Helen Mary Flynn

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity Helen Mary Flynn was celebrated on Dec. 3 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township Motherhouse. Sister Helen Mary, 93, died Nov. 25 at Mother Margaret Hall.
A native of Denver, Sister Helen Mary was a Sister of Charity for 75 years and served in the dioceses of Cincinnati, Pueblo, Santa Fe., and Colorado Springs. In 1938 Sister Helen Mary began teaching intermediate students at St. Anthony School in Madisonville. In 1943 she transitioned to student status at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati to study pharmacy. In 1947 she assumed head pharmacist duties at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, where she served for the next seven years.
Sister Helen Mary ministered outside the Archdiocese of Cincinnati until 1961, when she returned to Good Samaritan in Dayton to work as the director of pharmacy for the next 25 years.
She retired to St. Elizabeth Retirement Residence in Colorado Springs in 1986. She returned to the congregation’s motherhouse in 1995 to join the ministry of prayer.
Sister Helen Mary is survived by a brother, John. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity cemetery.
