A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Dominican Sister Francis Winifred Schnell on April 8 in St. Catherine Chapel at the Dominican Life Center in Adrian, Mich. She died on April 6 at age 84. Sister Francis Winifred was in her 63rd year of religious profession in the Adrian Dominican congregation.

A Detroit native she graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Adrian and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Siena Heights College. Sister Francis Winifred spent 22 years ministering in education in Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit and West Palm Beach, Fla. In Cincinnati she served on the environmental staff of St. Theresa Home from 1962-63, and as a teacher at St. Vincent Ferrer School from 1963-64. Sister Francis Winifred also served in pastoral ministry at St. Charles Borromeo Parish in Detroit, and as an office manager and secretary in Detroit. She became a resident of the Dominican Life Center in 2003.

Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
