Sister Evelyn Monnin
A Mass of Christian Burial for Precious Blood Sister Evelyn Monnin, was celebrated at the Salem Heights Chapel on Aug 9. Sister Evelyn died at the Maria Joseph Center in Dayton on Aug. 6. She had been a Sister of the Precious Blood for 72 years.
A native of Russia, Ohio, Sister Evelyn was an educator for 44 years, teaching grades one through eight in Missouri, Colorado, and in Dayton, Vandalia, Coldwater, Celina and Russia. For nine of those years she served as principal. She also served as assistant coordinator at Emma Hall in Dayton, ministering to her congregation’s infirmed sisters. She retired in 2001 at Salem Heights and continued at Emma Hall as a volunteer until 2013.
Sister Evelyn is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Heuing and Norma Bensman, as well as her brother, Linus.
Interment was in Salem Heights Cemetery.
