Sister Edith Ryan

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Edith Ryan was celebrated April 16 in the St. Julie Chapel at Mount Notre Dame Convent in Reading. Sister Edith, 89, died on April 11. She was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 71 years.
A native of Philadelphia, Sister Edith taught high school French, English and religion classes for 21 years. For all but three of those years she taught in Archdiocese of Cincinnati schools, including Julienne High School and Bishop Carroll High School in Dayton; Notre Dame High School in Hamilton; and Mount Notre Dame Academy in Cincinnati.
Apart from her classroom ministries, Sister Edith served in several congregational leadership roles including as a member of the general counsel team headquartered in Rome.
Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
