Sister Beatrice Hundt

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Beatrice Hundt was celebrated Nov. 12 in the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the congregation’s Delhi Township motherhouse. Sister Beatrice, 90, died Nov. 5 at Mother Margaret Hall.
A native of Lansing, Sister Beatrice was a Sister of Charity for 72 years, serving in education and pastoral ministry. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the College of Mount St. Joseph and a master’s from Xavier University. She served at Catholic schools in Ohio, Maryland and Michigan from 1940 until 1978.
She began her educational ministry at St. Gabriel School in Glendale in 1940. In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Sister Beatrice also taught at St. Dominic; the former St. Elizabeth School in Norwood; and St. William. She also ministered at Seton High School as an English teacher, assistant principal, theology instructor and guidance aide. In addition, Sister Beatrice taught at Carroll High School in Dayton and the former Marian High School in Cincinnati.
Sister Beatrice’s ministry took a different path when she moved to Albuquerque in 1978 to work as a pastoral minister with the senior population at a parish there. She retired to the motherhouse in 1997.
Sister Beatrice is survived by her sister, Irene Hundt, and brother, Stephen. Interment was in the Sisters of Charity Cemetery.
