School News: Mercy McAuley High School Board of Directors Announces Leadership Update
(Cincinnati, OH) – Mercy McAuley High School’s Board of Directors announces a leadership change update. At the end of June, Mercy McAuley’s Board announced that Jennifer Fellinger was named President of Mercy McAuley. Since then, Fellinger’s plans have changed, and she has decided not to assume the role of President.
Fellinger issued the following statement regarding her decision:
“In recent days, a significant and difficult change in personal circumstances has caused our family to have to adjust plans and remain in Michigan. While we are devastated beyond words that we are unable to make the move, we also believe in a God that works in mighty and mysterious ways. As heartbroken as I am, I am also confident that the next President will be equally enthusiastic about Mercy McAuley’s future and its promise for continued growth. My love for Mercy McAuley is as strong as ever, and I regret that I will miss the opportunity to lead such a strong, forward-thinking community of students, faculty, staff and alumnae. I believe with all my heart that a Mercy McAuley education is unparalleled, and that this world needs Women of Mercy.” -Jennifer Fellinger
The Mercy McAuley Board of Directors appointed Denise Krueger, Ph.D., as President of Mercy McAuley, effective immediately. Dr. Krueger, a 1980 alumna of McAuley High School, has served in various roles within the school community, most recently as Mercy McAuley’s Board Chair since 2018. She has extensive experience in education, having served as a professor of mathematics at Mount St. Joseph University for the past 16 years. During her time at Mount St. Joseph, she also served in roles including chairperson for the departments of Mathematics and Computing.
Dr. Krueger earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with Business Option from Xavier University, and her Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in Mathematics from Virginia Tech. Dr. Krueger has three grown children and resides in Harrison, Ohio.
As President, Dr. Krueger will serve as the administrative leader of the school, responsible for the overall management of the school, including its development and growth as part of Mercy Education. In this position, she will play a lead role in furthering the school’s mission, developing long-range strategic plans, and guiding enrollment growth through oversight of the leadership team, stewardship of the school’s financial resources, and building relationships with students and families, faculty and staff, alumnae, benefactors, and members of the Greater Cincinnati community.
“Mercy education is my heart, my soul, and my passion,” said Dr. Krueger. “I am truly blessed to have the honor of serving this incredible school community as President. I am excited to walk alongside our employees, students, parents, alumnae, benefactors and friends in taking
Mercy McAuley High School to even greater heights. We have a very strong and bright future ahead at Mercy McAuley High School, and look forward to carrying on our mission of providing young women with an outstanding Catholic, Mercy education.”
