At the count of three, the curtain slowly began to rise. As it rose, there on the other side was a gift for each of the 50 children standing by the curtain – and not just any gift, but something they’ve always dreamed of: beds to call their own. In partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Morris Furniture provided local kids who don’t have beds with new ones during the third annual “Day to Dream” event on Aug. 29.

Happy Anniversary St. Columban! More than 450 parishioners attended a beautiful Mass on August 24 to celebrate 160 years. It was a beautiful night to celebrate their past, rejoice in the present and prepare for the future, including the burning of the mortgage from their recently paid-off debt.

Queen of Peace Parish in Hamilton replaced their outside cross atop the church that was originally built and erected in 1966. The new cross is larger and lit for the entire Queen Acres neighborhood. They placed the old cross inside the new one. Students witnessed the blessing of the new cross.

The Petersburg Parishes kicked off a “Year of Discipleship” with a candlelit Marian Procession through the streets of Botkins on the Feast of the Assumption.

The students at Our Lady of the Rosary School in Dayton came together at the flagpole to remember, honor and pray for all those affected by the September 11 attacks.

St. Michael Parish School in Sharonville celebrated the first school Mass of the new year on Aug. 30. Students were a rainbow of faith in their new spirit shirts centered around the theme for the year: “Building a Community of Love.”

On Aug. 30, the feast day of St. Jeanne Jugan, foundress of the Little Sisters of the Poor, residents, families, guests and sisters celebrated the privilege of serving the elderly in need throughout America and in Cincinnati. The evening consisted of a Mass and reception at St. Paul’s Home in Clifton. Father Rob Waller, together with Fathers Rey Taylor and Tom Snodgrass, concelebrated the Mass of Thanksgiving.

Our Lady of Lordes School students are excited to be back at school!

The hallways are once again filled with the sounds of students and teachers as the 2019-20 school year started on Aug. 15 for Immaculate Heart of Mary School. Crusaders returned to campus in grades preschool through 8th with enrollment on the rise!

The Archdiocese of Cincinnati observed the second annual Day of Prayer for the Church and the Victims of Abuse on Sept. 13. Students at St. Peter School in Huber Heights attended the weekly Eucharistic Adoration throughout the day and prayed the Rosary, the Litany of the Most Precious Blood and the Service of the Word.

On Aug. 26 and 27, the Office of Divine Worship sponsored evenings of prayer and reflection for parish musicians throughout the archdiocese, including one at All Saints (Kenwood) and St. Charles Borromeo (Kettering). Pastoral musicians celebrating significant anniversaries of service in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati were also honored.

St. Margaret of York raised funds and placed a 4D Ultrasound Machine in Elizabeth New Life Center Lebanon Women’s Center. The Respect Life Ministry and Knights of Columbus Council #13429 worked together to raise funds to bring this life-saving equipment to the center, which will change hearts and save lives. Bishop Joseph Binzer and Father Jason Bedel blessed the machine on Aug. 8.
