1) TEN DEACONS ORDAINED
On April 25, the Archdiocese of Cincinnati
celebrated the ordination of 10 men to the
diaconate. Seven men were ordained as
transitional deacons for the Archdiocese
of Cincinnati; one man was ordained as a
permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of
Cincinnati; and two men were ordained as
transitional deacons for the Oratory of St.
Philip Neri in Cincinnati. Congratulations to
transitional deacons: Aaron Hess, Edward
Hoffmann, Louis Jacquemin, Michael Kapolka,
Anthony Marcelli, Scott Morgan, Elijah Puthoff,
Brother Henry Hoffmann and Brother Brent
Stull; and permanent deacon, Jim Niswonger
2) EASTER LILY DELIVERIES
During Lent and Easter the Newport-Fort
Loramie Pastoral Region brings Easter lilies
to homebound and parishioners who reside
in nursing homes/care facilities. This year, with
COVID-19, the parishes delivered the lilies
with extra precautions. Each flower drop-off
was approved in advance, and volunteers rang
doorbells and left flowers on porches.
3) MESSAGES OF HOPE
Parishioners have started leaving sidewalk chalk
messages for Father Steven Shoup and for those
who visit St. Michael Church in Fort Loramie,
which is open during the day for private prayer.
4) OFFERING ENCOURAGEMENT
Our Lord Christ the King Parish in Cincinnati
partnered with StreamSpot to broadcast Mass.
For each day of Easter’s Holy Week, clergy
recorded a personal message, too. Father Ed
Smith, Father Frank Voellmecke and Deacon
Don Gloeckler recorded brief video messages
offering encouragement during this time of
social-distancing.
5) ROGATION DAY & BLESSING
Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Anderson
Township held a Rogation Day procession and
blessing of the IHM grounds on April 25.
