Reverend John R. White died on Monday, November 2, 2020, in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on July 30, 1947 in Hartford, Connecticut. He received a B.A. from Central Connecticut State College, a B.A. from St. Gregory Seminary, and an M.A. from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West, Cincinnati. He was ordained on June 13, 1981 at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral by Archbishop Joseph L. Bernardin.

Father White received his first assignment on July 1, 1981 as Associate at Holy Trinity Parish, Coldwater. On June 26, 1984, he was appointed Associate at Holy Angels Parish, Sidney. On August 1, 1986, he was appointed to Graduate Studies in Canon Law in Ottawa, Ontario. On July 1, 1988, he was appointed to the Tribunal Staff for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and in residence at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Parish, Reading. On July 1, 1993, he was appointed Chaplain at Mt. St. Joseph Motherhouse of the Sisters of Charity, Cincinnati while continuing at the Tribunal Office. He was appointed Catholic Chaplain (part-time) at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati while continuing in the Tribunal Office and appointed Resident Associate at Holy Angels Parish, Cincinnati, effective June 26, 1995. He was appointed to Chaplain Ministry (part-time) at The Franciscan at St. Clare retirement community in Hartwell and continuing as part-time Chaplain at Christ Hospital, effective July 28, 1997. Father White was appointed pastor of St. Mary Parish, Greenville, effective July 8, 1998. He was appointed to another six-year term as Pastor of St. Mary Parish, effective July 9, 2004. On, July 1, 2010, he was appointed Parochial Administrator of St. Mary Parish for a period of time, then continued as Pastor until his death.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church. Celebrant: Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr. Homilist: Reverend Christopher R. Armstrong.

Burial: Thursday, November 5, 2020 immediately following the Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Greenville. Celebrant: Reverend Christopher R. Armstrong.
