Around McNicholas, you will often hear the phrase, “Once a Rocket, Always a Rocket.” So when one of your own is about to play on football’s biggest stage, we don’t just cheer (though we’ve been doing a lot of that!). We act.

To support 2004 McNicholas graduate Kevin Huber, senior Grant Must designed and marketed a “Rockets show their stripes” t-shirt whose proceeds benefit Huber’s FUR Foundation.

“It’s not every day that a Rocket goes to the Super Bowl, so I wanted to find a special way for the McNicholas community to show our support,” Grant said. “My family has a rescue dog from the Highland County Humane Society and she has impacted my family and everyone she meets. So, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to raise money for an important cause, support Kevin, and give the students gear to wear!” Grant said.

The Foundation for Underserved Rescues (FUR), founded in 2017 by Huber and his wife Mindi, is dedicated to “serving those with FUR.” The foundation provides resources and support to underserved Cincinnati area animal rescues, addressing the needs of our city’s rescues and shelters who perform the challenging and often thankless work of saving animals.

Huber graduated from McNicholas in 2004. He took the reins as Rocket punter from his big brother Jeremy Huber ’01 and earned All-League and All-City honors in his three years as a varsity starter. Huber was inducted to the McNicholas Hall of Fame in 2016 and is still best friends with his teammates.

Grant said, “As Kevin Huber heads to the big game this weekend, I’d like to wish him the best of luck and make sure that he knows how many people back in Cincinnati, and especially at McNicholas, are cheering him on.”
