Father Theodore Thepe

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jesuit Father Theodore Thepe was celebrated Nov. 28 at Colombiere Center in Clarkston, Mich. Father Thepe, 87, died Nov. 23.
A native of Cincinnati, Father Thepe graduated from St. Xavier High School in 1942, after which he joined the Society of Jesus in Milford. Following two years at the novitiate, he received various degrees, including a bachelor’s degree in Latin from Loyola University Chicago; philosophy and theology degrees from West Baden College; and a master’s degree in chemistry from John Carroll University. Father Thepe taught at Loyola Academy in Chicago for nine years and was an instructor and associate professor at Xavier University for 50 years, teaching both chemistry and photography.
Father Thepe remained at Xavier until his retirement in 2010.
