A Mass of Christian Burial for Marianist Father Lee L. Sciarrotta was celebrated Sept. 28 at Emmanuel Church in Dayton. Retired Cincinnati Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk was principal celebrant.

Father Sciarrotta, 74, died Sept. 23.
A native of Cleveland, Father Sciarrotta made first vows in 1955 in New York and professed perpetual vows in 1959 at the University of Dayton. He attended the International Seminary, Fribourg, Switzerland, and was ordained in 1967.
He was a teacher and chaplain at high schools in Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Toronto and Michigan. He entered parish ministry and served as a pastor or parochial vicar in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Michigan and Australia.
He was named pastor at Emmanuel Church in Dayton in 1988 and remained in that assignment until his death.
He is survived by two brothers, Father Paul Sciarrotta of Chardon, and Joseph Sciarrotta of Lorain.
A memorial Mass was scheduled to be celebrated Oct. 17 in Chardon. Interment was at Mount St. John in Dayton.
