Father Anselm F. Boeke

A Mass of Christian Burial for Father Anselm F. Boeke was celebrated Jan. 10 at St. Charles Center in Carthagena. Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr served as celebrant. Father Boeke, 92, died Jan. 7 at St. Charles Center.

A native of Cassella, Ohio, Father Boeke did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West in Norwood. He was ordained on Dec. 18, 1943, at the former Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Norwood by then-Archbishop John T. McNicholas.
Father Boeke was appointed as assistant pastor of St. Martin of Tours Parish in Cheviot on Jan. 5, 1944, serving there until 1950. He also served as an assistant pastor at St. Anthony Parish in Dayton (1950-56); St. Mary Parish in Piqua (1956-61); the former Resurrection Parish in Dayton, where he also served at the Montgomery County Home; the former Sacred Heart Parish in Dayton (1961-62); and St. Thomas More Parish in Withamsville, where he also served as administrator (1962-63).
Father Boeke served as pastor of St. Nicholas Parish in Osgood (1963-65); Precious Blood Parish in Chickasaw (1965-69); Holy Rosary Parish in St. Marys (1969-77); and St. Lawrence Parish in Rhine (1979-89). From 1977 to 1979 Father Boeke was in residence at Holy Trinity Parish in Cold Water. He retired in 1989.
Interment was in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Cassella.
