Faculty Members Craycraft, Levri Receive Promotions
The Very Reverend Anthony R. Brausch, President & Rector of Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology (MTSM) announced a pair of promotions for members of the MTSM faculty this week.
Dr. Kenneth Craycraft’s is now a Professor of Moral Theology, having his promotion from associate professor approved by the MTSM Board of Trustees at their meeting last week. Dr. Mary Catherine Levri has moved up from assistant professor to Associate Professor of Music and Pastoral Studies after a recommendation from the Faculty Affairs Committee was approved by Fr. Brausch.
Dr. Craycraft, whose full title is now Professor of Moral Theology and the James J. Gardner Family Chair of Moral Theology, has been a member of the MTSM faculty since 2016, starting out as an adjunct lecturer. He was promoted to Associate Professor of Moral Theology in 2019 and became the James J. Gardner Family Chair of Moral Theology in 2020.
“Dr. Craycraft has demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship, as well as dedicated service to the institution and the Church,” Fr. Brausch said.
His latest book, Citizens Yet Strangers: Living Authentically Catholic in a Divided America, will be released on March 11. He is also a columnist and contributor to many publications, including the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s monthly magazine, The Catholic Telegraph.
Dr. Levri’s full title is now Director of Music and Associate Professor of Music and Pastoral Studies. She started at MTSM in 2016 as Director of Music and was promoted to an assistant professor in 2017 upon the completion of her doctorate from the University of Notre Dame.
“Dr. Levri has consistently demonstrated professionalism in her field and dedication to her students’ academic and musical achievements,” Fr. Brausch noted.
Her work in Sacred Music is felt throughout the Seminary, the Cincinnati community and in her field of study. She has led MTSM’s Music & Liturgy Series, which in 2023-24 has included the installation and dedication of a new pipe organ in the Chapel of St. Gregory the Great. Each summer, she hosts an annual Sacred Music Institute Conference. In September 2022, she was elected President of the Society for Catholic Liturgy.
