A Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon Joseph “Ted” Schmidt was celebrated Dec. 9 at St. Boniface Church in Northside. Deacon Schmidt, 86, died Dec. 6.

Deacon Schmidt was ordained to the diaconate by then-Archbishop of Cincinnati Joseph L. Bernardin at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains on July 3, 1982. He served at St. Leo, St. Bernard and St. Boniface parishes. He was granted Senior Status in 2008.

Deacon Schmidt is survived by his wife, Roselyn, sons, George and Gene, and sister, Sister of Notre Dame Mary Sebastian. Interment was in St. Joseph (New) Cemetery.
