Deacon Henry B. Beck Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon Henry J. Beck was celebrated July 2 at our Lady of the Rosary Church in Dayton. Deacon Beck, 94, died June 26.
Deacon Beck was a graduate of the former Holy Trinity High School in Dayton and the former St. Francis Seminary High School in Cincinnati, the novitiate and two college seminary years with the Franciscans of the St. John the Baptist Province. He served in the South Pacific during World War II, earning the Bronze Star during his service. He graduated from Miami Jacobs College with a degree in accounting in 1947 and married his late wife, Thelma, that same year.
Deacon Beck was ordained a permanent deacon for the Archdiocese of Cincinnati on July 28, 1979, and was assigned to his home parish of Our Lady of the Rosary. He later served the four Catholic parishes of Old North Dayton.
Deacon Beck is survived by his daughter, Phyllis Wysinski, and son, Franciscan Father Henry Beck.
