DAYTON DEANERY — The Catholic Education Collaborative recently received a $5,000 grant from the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District (MCACD) for the Urban Elementary Instrumental Music Initiative. These funds will be used to provide a band/musical instrument experience to Catholic school students who may otherwise not be exposed to the opportunity due to instructor availability or fees.

“Our students, families and teachers truly appreciate the Arts District board members and the Montgomery County Commissioners for recognizing and supporting this need in our schools. We are blessed to live in a community so rich with incredible artistic talent and opportunities, and a real belief in the importance of helping perpetuate those opportunities,” said Sue Koverman, director of shared students services for the collaborative.

The Catholic Education Collaborative received one of 30 Special Project grants awarded from MCACD this year to organizations producing a variety of arts and cultural projects in four program categories.
