Brother Howard Lohrey
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marianist Brother Howard Lohrey was celebrated Jan. 28 at All Saints Church in Cincinnati. Brother Howard, 65, died Jan. 24.
A native of Cleveland, Brother Lohrey entered the Marianist novitiate at Marcy, NY, and professed his first vows there on Aug. 22, 1968. He earned a bachelor’s degree in music, with minors in math and theology, from the University of Dayton in 1973. He professed his perpetual vows in the Society of Mary on Aug. 18, 1974, at Mount Saint John in Dayton.
Brother Howard was a longtime math teacher at Moeller High School, where he began teaching in 1979. He went on to earn a master’s degree in mathematics from Xavier University, and, in addition to teaching at Moeller, he was an adjunct math instructor at Xavier from 1985 – 2005.
Brother Howard is survived by his mother, Joyce, and his sister, Barbara Nissen. Interment was at Queen of Heaven Cemetery at Mount Saint John.
