Wednesday, January 6, 2010 Jesuit Father Stephen A. Meder, who served as a teacher and librarian at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati from 1944-55, died Dec. 21 in Pontiac, Mich. He was 98.

Tuesday, January 5, 2010 A Mass of Christian Burial for Father Mark Schmieder was celebrated on Jan. 2 at St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine. Father William Stockelman served as celebrant and homilist. Father Schmieder, 69, died Dec. 24 in Richland, Wash, where he was being treated for pancreatic cancer.
