SIDNEY DEANERY — The 2009 Athenaeum of Ohio Alumni Association reunion was held Aug. 7 at Lehman Catholic High School in Sidney. Coadjutor Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr presided at the alumni Mass.

The evening included the annual alumni banquet, entertainment and presentation of the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The recipient of this year’s award was Father Tim Schehr, the senior member of the Athenaeum of Ohio faculty who has taught bliblical studies to future priests for 31 years.

In nominating Father Schehr for the award, Father Earl Fernandes, dean of Mount St. Mary’s seminary, described him as “one of the most humble and decent human beings I have ever met.”

The event also featured a silent auction, the proceeds from which are used to fund alumni association efforts.
