ARCHBISHOP MOELLER HIGH SCHOOL NAMES A NEW PRINCIPAL

(CINCINNATI, OHIO, November 21, 2023) Michael Shaffer is Archbishop Moeller High School’s next principal, taking the helm from Carl Kremer who will continue in an administrative role and will remain as the head basketball coach.

Mike joined Moeller in 2003 as a religion and psychology teacher. He quickly found success in the classroom, putting the principles of REALearning – Relational, Experiential, Authentic – into practice. Outside of the classroom, Mike coached cross country and track, served as dean of Quiroga House, moderator of clubs, and was frequently tapped to oversee academic initiatives and programs for Moeller. In 2017, he became dean of student life – using the Marianist charism to guide students, helping them shape their behaviors and improve the overall culture of the school.

“I am so excited Mike has accepted the principal position at Moeller. His wealth of experience, leadership, and dedication to Marianist education align perfectly with our school’s values and Mission,” said Marshall Hyzdu, Moeller’s president. Mike will begin his tenure as principal at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

Mike and his wife, Rita, have been married twenty years. They have one son who is a sophomore at Moeller. When he is not at school or rooting for the Crusaders, Mike enjoys playing guitar and going for runs in his neighborhood.

Archbishop Moeller is an all-male Catholic high school (grades 9-12) located in the northeastern suburbs of Cincinnati, OH.
