Catholic Charities offering parenting classes

Catholic Charities will begin several new 8-week sessions of parenting education classes in Hamilton and Middletown.
For parents of little ones (0-5 years of age), there will be a program at Catholic Charities’ Hamilton Service Center (140 North Fifth Street) on Thursday nights from August 16-October 4; and another at Holy Trinity Church in Middletown (201 Clark Street) on Tuesday nights from August 21 to October 9. For parents of school-aged children (6-12 years of age), there will be a program at Holy Trinity Church on Monday nights from August 23 to October 11. Each session is from 7-8:30 p.m. There is no fee for Butler County residents and a one-time fee for non-residents ($60 single, $80 couple). To register, call 513-863-6129.
On Thursday, August 9 from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Catholic Charities will offer “TIME-IN (When Time-Out Isn’t Working)” at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital-Fairfield (3050 Mack Road, Fairfield). The workshop will present the new tools available to positively and constructively discipline children. Learn what to do, how to teach responsibility and problem solving, and how to follow-through. On Tuesday, August 28 from 6-9 p.m., Catholic Charities will offer “When Life Throws You a Curve Ball: Learning to Live with Less” at Elder High School’s Schaeper Center (4005 Glenway Avenue, Cincinnati). The workshop will present coping skills, savings strategies, resources, meal planning, and other tools for those stressed out because of certain life challenges that have come their way because of the recession or unemployment. The Caregivers Assistance Network of Catholic Charities will host the 16th Annual Caring Matters Caregiving Conference from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 20 at the Crowne Plaza Cincinnati (I-71 and Pfeiffer Road). For seniors, caregivers and care giving professionals, the conference will feature Elaine Sanchez who is an author, speaker and “Caregiver Survivalist.” Her program, “Caregiver Boot Camp: Survivor Training,” is a dynamic and insightful program that focuses on practical approaches to aging issues and caregiving. For registrations prior to September 7, the fee is $40 for caregivers and $100 for professionals (CEUs are available).
