DAYTON  DEANERY — Area faith leaders will gather to consider new approaches to non-violence Saturday, Sept. 24 at the University of Dayton Law School. Weavers of Justice, a collaborative of 31 parishes and Catholic organizations, including the archdicocesan Catholic Social Action Office, are sponsoring the event.

The All Faith Conference on Non-Violence is designed to animate leaders who will, in turn, help their faith community spread the word and get involved in curbing violence in the greater Dayton area. Two sessions will give participants a solid response on how to heal the effects of violence in the community. Representatives from United Against Violence of Greater Dayton will offer an orientation to a comprehensive approach to preventing violence developed by more than 90 individuals and organizations. Dayton Police Chief Richard Biehl will speak about his experiences with restorative justice, and Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer will share ways each person can bring peace to their neighborhood.

The conference is free, but organizers request advance registration. To register and for more information, call the Catholic Social Action Office in Dayton at 937-224-3026.
