Delhi Township, Ohio – Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Annie Klapheke professed perpetual vows during a Mass on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception at the Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse (Delhi Township).

Due to the current precautions, only Sisters and invited guests were present with Sister Annie in the chapel for the ceremony. Friends of the Community were able to view the celebration via livestream. In their presence she vowed to “freely commit myself for life to the service of God and God’s people as a member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. … I ask the continuing grace of God and the support of my Sisters, Associates, family, and friends, that I may keep faith with the commitment I freely and joyfully make today.”

Sister Annie thanked her Sisters, Associates, family and friends for nurturing her vocation through many years of unconditional love, encouragement and companionship. “I am here today because of your presence in my life, and because of the abundant grace of God,” she said.

Born in Middletown, Ohio, Sister Annie graduated from Bishop Fenwick High School and the University of Dayton. After one year in Anchorage, Alaska, as a Jesuit volunteer, she studied at The Ohio State University to receive a master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics.

Sister Annie began her year of Affiliation with the Congregation in January 2014 and lived and ministered with the Sisters at Casa de Caridad in Anthony, New Mexico. As an Apostolic Novice, Sister Annie spent 10 weeks in Antigua, Guatemala, in language immersion as well as volunteered at the Good Samaritan Free Health Center in Price Hill (Cincinnati) as a dietitian. Additionally she served as a team member with the Ignatian Spirituality Project’s retreat program for homeless women.

Since January 2017 Sister Annie has been ministering full-time at the Good Samaritan Health Center in Price Hill (Cincinnati) as a registered dietitian. “I really enjoy it,” she says. “My favorite part is the variety of patients I get to interact with every day. We have a very diverse population here. I love the richness that brings and the opportunity it gives me to walk with people and companion them. I’m also grateful for my coworkers and the many volunteers we have here and their dedication and willingness to give of their time freely to provide some of the best quality medical care people can get.”

Sister Annie continues to serve as a team member with the Ignatian Spirituality Project, offering retreats for women in recovery from addiction. Additionally, she serves on the Board of Directors for Produce Perks Midwest.
