FOOD FROM THE HEART: ST. VINCENT DE PAUL, KROGER AND FOX19 NOW PARTNER FOR VIRTUAL FOOD DRIVE
CINCINNATI, NOVEMBER 16, 2021 – Food From the Heart, a partnership between St. Vincent de Paul, Kroger and FOX19 NOW kicked off Monday, in an effort to provide 50,000 meals to Greater Cincinnati neighbors in need. Since the annual holiday drive began 31 years ago, over one million meals have been provided through Food From the Heart donations. This year’s drive will run from November 15 – December 31, 2021.
The food drive will take a virtual format again this year. Financial donations are accepted online at FOX19.com/donate, and will be used by St. Vincent de Paul to purchase and distribute food to neighbors in need.
A tax-deductible donation of $2.09 typically provides one meal. Starting November 15, Protective Life Corporation will match all donations, up to $25,000. Now, $2.09 provides two meals, thanks to their generous contribution.
“This boost of support comes at a perfect time,” says Mike Dunn, Executive Director of St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati. “The winter months come with extra financial costs for many families. Donations received through Food from the Heart will help provide hearty and nutritious meals to families turning to St. Vincent de Paul for assistance.”
Over 35,000 neighbors relied on St. Vincent de Paul’s Becky & Ted Catino Choice Food Pantry (located within the Neyer Outreach Center) for assistance with food last year. Thousands more households were assisted with food through St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati’s neighborhood food pantries, based at a dozen Catholic parishes across Greater Cincinnati.
