New Visitor from West Africa
Bishop Gabriel Akwasi Ababio Mante of the Diocese of JAsikan, Ghana, arrived in Cincinnati earlier this month with the hope of having a last visit with his friend, Father Paul Rehling, with whom he had worked in Ghana in the late 1980s through the early 1990s. Father Rehling, 81, died Feb. 7 following a long illness. Bishop Mante did not arrive in time to see Father Rehling, but he did concelebrate his Feb. 12 funeral at St. William Church. Father Rehling taught at the major seminary in Ghana, in West Africa, and was considered a pioneer in building bridges with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and other cultures and nations. During his visit, Bishop Mante also met with Franciscan Father Dan Kroger, publisher of St. Anthony Messenger Press in Cincinnati, above left, and Mike Gable, director of the archdiocesan Mission Office.

‘Archdiocese launches revamped website
ARCHDIOCESE – The Archdiocese of Cincinnati launched a new version of the website www.CatholicCincinnati.org, dramatically overhauled to not only look better but do a better job of conveying the vitality of the Catholic faith in the 19 counties of southern Ohio.
The website has been revised many times since its debut in 1996, but the latest version is a complete reboot. Highlights include:
- New content and resources from the 32 ministries and offices of the archdiocese.
- Improved directories to help find a church or school, including a link to Google Maps for directions.
- Links to Facebook pages of archdiocesan office and to videos.
- A news feed on the home page, presenting local stories from The Catholic Telegraph as well as national stories from Catholic News Service.
- A comprehensive section on “Being Catholic,” which explores how the faith is lived in daily life, in the sacraments, in the liturgical year, in the home, and in prayer, as well as how to join or come home to the Catholic Church.
Initially, the home page emphasizes four subjects: returning to the church, vocations, child protection, and the new Roman Missal (in the form of a video featuring Archbishop Schnurr and Archbishop Pilarczyk).
US Digital Partners, in collaboration with offices of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, planned, designed, and built the new site. The Cincinnati-based interactive studio was chosen for the task after a search that included interviewing companies from outside of Ohio.
“It has been a real blessing working on this project and learning about all that the Archdiocese does,” said David Brecount, a local Catholic businessman at US Digital Partners who managed the project. “I think we have provided the staff members who are doing very important work with the tools they need to serve the church.”
