Sister Catherine Cahur, SC
Sister of Charity of Cincinnati Catherine Cahur died Sept. 22, 2019, at the age of 82 in San Francisco, CA. Sister Cathy was born March 8, 1937 to Benjamin and Eleanor (Grams) Cahur in Cleveland, OH. She was a Sister of Charity for 64 years.

Sister Cathy’s 50 years of active ministry included 27 years in education in schools in Michigan, Ohio and Colorado.

The second half of her ministry years took her in a new direction. From 1985-87 Sister Cathy became a full-time student of transpersonal psychology; upon completion of the degree in counseling, she accepted a position with the Bay Area Addiction Research Treatment Clinic in San Francisco, CA; the clinic offered medical and counseling services for 600 heroin addicts as outpatients.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct.17 in the Motherhouse Chapel of the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati. Burial was at the Sisters of Charity cemetery.

Rev. Charles W. Caserta
Reverend Charles W. Caserta, age 91, of Troy, went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Oct. 10, 2019.

He did his preparatory studies at St. Gregory Seminary and studied theology at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West. He was ordained on May 29, 1954, at St. Monica Cathedral, Cincinnati, by Archbishop Karl J. Alter. Father Caserta received his first assignment on June 17, 1954 as Assistant at St. Agnes Parish, Bond Hill (Cincinnati). He retired from active ministry on June 15, 1994.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct.16, at St. Boniface Church with Most Rev. Joseph R. Binzer serving as celebrant and Rev. Eric A. Bowman, and Rev. Daniel P. Hunt concelebrating.

Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua. Per Fr. Caserta’s wishes, if so desired, people may donate to the Bethany Center (P.O. Box 224, Piqua, OH 45356).

Sister Monica McGloin, OP
Sister Monica entered the novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor in August 1964, made her First Profession in September 1966 and Final Profession in September 1972. Sister Monica earned her RN from Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing and her BS in Nursing from Ohio State University.

Sister Monica was a nurse with the Dominican Sisters of the Sick Poor Agency in Columbus and in Cincinnati, OH. She was a nurse with Cincinnati Area Senior Services and a volunteer grant writer with the Community Land Co-op of Cincinnati. In New York she was a co-foundress of the Newburgh Ministry in Newburgh, NY.

A memorial Mass was celebrated in Cincinnati on Oct. 19. A memorial Mass will also be celebrated at at 11 a.m. on Dec. 8, at the Dominican Sisters Center of Hope at the Mariandale Center in Ossining, NY.
