Roger Bacon High School students concluded their 24th annual Assist-A-Family program benefitting Mother of Christ Church in Winton Terrace and the St. George Food Pantry in Corryville in mid-December. The students, faculty, staff and alumni purchased toys, games and clothing for these two agencies. They also presented $1,600 worth of Kroger gift cards and divided them between the two agencies. Pictured here are students carrying the boxes of donations from a delivery van to Mother of Christ Church. From left in the front row are students Jeff Schomaker, Sophia Wright, Stephen Post, Allie Bickel and Jasmine Carter. In the back row from left are Ian Eckart, Paul Kraemer, Joey Annello, Tyler Swanson and Dan Nolan, community outreach director at Roger Bacon. (Courtesy Photo)
Walking two by two: All schools have children walk two by two to the computer lab, the library, lunch and other activities. What is slightly different at St. Gabriel Consolidated School in Glendale is that there are six sets of twins currently enrolled, with two sets from the same family. “We rarely see this number of twins at one time in our school of 431 and view their being here as a blessing as they walk two by two, sharing each day together,” said Joseph Epplen, principal. Pictured in the back row are Annie and Beth Heimbuch (seventh grade) and Zachary and Jacob Heflin (sixth grade). In the middle row are Margaret and William Keenan (second grade), Alivia and Caitlyn Hyland (third grade) and Tyler and A.J. Heflin (kindergarten). In front are John and Kate Tanaka (kindergarten).
