Aug. 3, 4. The third annual Holy Smokes BBQ competition features a kids competition (ages 8-16) and People’s Choice Chicken Wing competition Friday and a 3.3-mile Bacon Burner Race and 1-mile Bacon Bit Kids run (all runners get a pancake breakfast), and People’s Choice pulled pork competition Saturday, as well as the main team competition from noon – midnight Saturday. Live music both nights; beer and wine booths, games and kids area, food, more. More than 30 competitors will vie for the prizes. A certified Kansa City Barbecue Society (KCBS) competition. Proceeds benefit school renovations.
