Sister Mary Ann Broering
A Mass of Christian Burial for Congregation of Divine Providence Sister Mary Ann Broering was celebrated Nov. 9 at St. Anne Convent, Melbourne, Ky.
Sister Mary Ann, 87, died Nov. 6 at Holy Family Home in Melbourne. She was a professed member of her religious community for 62 years.
A native of Dayton, Ky., she professed her first vows in 1949 and her final vows in 1954. A math and science teacher, she taught at schools in Kentucky and Maryland for many years. In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, she served as a science supervisor in the archdiocesan Catholic Schools Office. After completing her studies in the Athenaeum of Ohio’s Lay Pastoral Ministry Program, she left the teaching profession to serve as a director of religious education at various parishes, including St. Thomas More in Withamsville. From 1990-2004, she served as secretary to the chancellor of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati while also working part-time as a secretary at St. Anne Convent. She retired from this ministry in 2009, and continued to minister in community service at the congregation’s retirement home.
