ARCHDIOCESE — Nearly 700 Greater Cincinnati area Catholic school employees — from teachers, teacher’s aides, principals and maintenance personnel to pastors and deacons — will be on hand next week to celebrate Catholic schools at the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s annual Cincinnati Catholic Schools Banquet.

The event will take place from Wednesday, April 28, 6:30-9 p.m., at the Cintas Center on the Xavier University campus, preceded by a reception at 5 p.m. Sister of Notre Dame de Namur Rita M. Sturwold, president of Mount Notre Dame  High School, will deliver the keynote address. Cincinnati Archbishop Dennis Schnurr will offer a welcome and bless the meal.
 
First-year teachers will be recognized, as well as those who have been teachers for 25, 35, 45 years or more.
 
A similar banquet celebrating Catholic education in the Miami Valley has been held annually in Dayton for many years.
 
The Cincinnati banquet was made possible through the leadership of Marianist Brother Joe Kamis, former superintendent of Catholic schools; Dr. Laura Meibers, deputy superintendent; and principals Tim Reilly, Precious Blood Sister Anne Schulz, Cheryl Sucher and Steve Zinser, noted Pat Armstrong, interim superintendent. “Our thanks to them for having the dream and making it happen for the second year in a row,” Armstrong said. “It is very powerful to see and to recognize the wonderful efforts of hundreds of those who serve our children each day in our Catholic schools. We and they are truly blessed!”
