DAYTON DEANERY — Christmas in Latin America is an exhibit of more than 30 crib settings at Gallery Saint John that celebrates the Christmas event in Latin American cultures. These colorful pieces reflect local dress, customs and the climate of our neighbors to the south. The warmth of the season is presented with images of ceramics, wood carvings, paper maché and with figures fashioned out of straw.
“We see this as a joyful and meaningful event for all ages,” said Marianist Brother Joe Barrish, gallery manager. “Many visitors stop and read the explanations about each setting.”
Gallery Saint John is located at Mount Saint John/Bergamo in Dayton. Gallery hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, or by appointment by calling 937-320-5405. The exhibit runs through Jan. 3 with special hours on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
