Sister Mary George Bocklage

A Mass of Christian Burial for Sister of Mercy Mary George Boklage was celebrated May 16 at St. Clare Church in College Hill. Sister Mary George, 87, died May 12. She was a member of the Sisters of Mercy for 70 years.
A native of Louisville, Sister Mary George made her first vows in 1941 and final vows in 1947. She completed the nursing program at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the former Our Lady of Cincinnati College and a master’s in nursing service administration from the Catholic University of America. In the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Sister Mary George served at the former our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont and coordinated the building of Mercy Hospital-Clermont, where she served as administrator from 1975-95. She went on to work for the Heart to Heart ministry, founded by the late Father Jim Willig. She retired to McAuley Convent in 2009.
Sister Mary George is survived by her sister, Sarah McNeil, and brother, Frank. Interment was in St. Joseph (New) Cemetery.
