A Mass of Christian Burial for Deacon Raymond S. Burger was celebrated Feb. 24 at St. Margaret Mary Church in North College Hill. Deacon Burger, 86, died Feb. 20. 

Deacon Burger served in the South Pacific Theater during WWII. He was ordained to the diaconate by retired Archbishop Daniel E. Pilarczyk at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Chains on June 25, 1983. He served at St. Margaret Mary Parish from his ordination until his death. He was involved with RCIA, baptism preparation and pastoral and bereavement ministry. He also wrote articles for the parish bulletin sharing his spiritual insights.

Deacon Burger is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and children, Rick, Mary Anne, Dan, Dave and Father Mark Burger, pastor of Our Lady of Visitation Parish. Interment was in St. James Parish Cemetery in White Oak.
