A Mass of Christian Burial for Franciscan Sister Charlyne Wolff was celebrated Feb. 10 at the motherhouse chapel of the Sisters of St. Francis, Oldenburg, Ind. Sister Charlyne, 86, died Feb. 7 at St. Clare Hall, the congregation’s healthcare facility.

A native of Dayton, Sister Charlyne entered the Oldenburg Franciscan Community in 1939 and professed her final vows in 1945.

Sister Charlyne was a teacher in both elementary and secondary education. She taught at the former St. Leo and St. Vincent de Paul schools in the Cincinnati area. Sister Charlyne also taught in Indiana from 1966 to 1970 and served as postulant mistress for the Oldenburg community.

In 1979 Sister Charlyne began her missionary career in Papua New Guinea, where she ministered for the next 26 years at Tari High School, Holy Trinity College, Xavier Institute and Nazareth House of Prayer. She retired to St. Clare Hall in 1996.

Sister Charlyne is survived by her sister, Mary Joan Corrigan. Interment was in the congregation’s cemetery.
